Eric Seidel, a former television personality and attorney, has filed to run for Hillsborough County Clerk of Circuit Court.
Seidel, 52, is the second candidate to enter the clerk’s race and the first Republican. County Commissioner Kevin Beckner, who has to leave his seat on the commission in 2016 because of term limits, has filed to run as a Democrat. Current County Clerk Pat Frank has said she plans to run for a fourth term, though she hasn’t filed papers with the Supervisor of Elections Office.
Seidel said he’s been encouraged by county residents, including many who grew to know him as the “consumer lawyer” on Fox 13 television for 19 years. In that role, Seidel helped viewers with legal problems, from collecting on a legal judgment or filing a small claim in a dispute, to filing for divorce without a lawyer.
